The new Eligius prisoners, Charmaine especially, are more fearsome and probably bloodthirsty than we could imagine. Yet, villains with these traits are essential and give The 100 points for bringing such complexed, detailed, and layered characters to television. They give us a new light, a new perspective on humankind as we try to understand why some people behave the way that is not the ‘right’ way or why we are who we are and how we can build ourselves from that alone. I am not condoning criminal behavior, but it is more of the psychological mind frame that both fascinates and terrifies simultaneously. With that aside, I am excited to see these new people in action–and hopefully (not revealing any spoilers) they will find common ground with Clarke, Bellamy, and others to live in Eden.
