The 100 is leaving Netflix later this month (and the fans are upset)

You might have heard the devastating rumor that The 100 will soon be leaving the streamer, Netflix. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the rumors are true. There’s no one more upset than I or the fans, as the sci-fi show about a feisty young woman named Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) who’s trying to save her people, but discovers that it’s not as simple as expected. But life on Earth isn’t all that bad, despite its harshness. Clarke finds love with Lexa (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and partners with Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley) in her leadership role, creating one of the greatest platonic love stories in TV history.

From 2014 to 2020

With The 100 leaving Netflix, it represents a significant loss not only for fans and newcomers discovering it, but also for the talent involved. Each time a show or movie streams on a platform, the actors receive residual income. It’s not much, but it helps cover expenses and whatever else life brings. Now that The 100 will soon be eliminated, the income will also dry up.

The 100 is taking over social media

Content creator BINGETOWN Jim on Instagram uploaded a Reel describing the show and calling The 100 just another CW series catered to teens, which he stated was further from the truth. I should know, for I haven’t been a teenager since the very early 2000s, and I absolutely love it. No other show has covered moral compasses and character growth as The 100 did, and I believe no show ever will. It might have had its flaws, but so does life, and I always say that without them, we wouldn’t have the mechanism to propel us to do better.

Several of The 100 stars, including Eliza, Bobby, and creator Jason Rothenberg, reposted the Reel on their respective Instagram Stories. Tasya Teles, who portrayed Echo Kom Azgeda and Bellamy’s girlfriend from seasons 2 to 7,  shared her perspective on the show that brought her to the spotlight. Yet, I’m pleased to say that I knew of her talent before The 100.

“Still so proud of all the hard work from our entire cast and crew, and grateful for all the amazing memories we created together! ❤️❤️❤️,” the Canadian actress wrote in her Stories under the Reel.

December 18, 2025, will be the last day for fans to participate in a rewatch marathon and for new lovers to invest. When the day finally ends, and fans still want to live in The 100’s exciting, turbulant world, there’s another option. The entire series is available on DVD and  Blu-ray. I have both formats, because I never took streaming for granted; when the license expires, it’s removed. Frustrating and annoying that streamers do this to their customers. But at least you have the collection with the discs, along with fun bonus features.

As they say on the show, Netflix is literally saying, “May we meet again.”
