Short film Status: Active by The 100 Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor now on popular streamer (review too)

Status: Active Bob Morley The 100

It’s finally here for the public to enjoy! The short film Status: Active, created by The 100 power duo, Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor, is now available on YouTube. Just under ten minutes, the film festival award winner depicts a young robot shopper named Kaitlyn (Eliza) who’s literally having the time of her life in her role. It’s all about racking up stars and reviews as more money rolls in.

Yet, there’s a sinister side to Status: Active, and that’s what puts the ‘dark’ into this dark comedy. Who knew picking up orders and shopping could be dangerous? Ah, well. You know what Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) said in Ghostbusters (1984): “Shit happens.” And he’s right in that revelation. And it applies boldly to the production, except Kaitlyn’s oblivious to the mess brewing with one of her app clients.

More on that guy in a wee moment.

Moving on, there’s a bit of fun and flirtiness with a character credited as the “Handsome Shopper” (Bob) as we enter the film’s latter half. It adds an additional layer of hilarity and a natural human emotional response. Besides, who wouldn’t want to relieve some of the stress of grocery shopping for an individual? You might as well enjoy yourself.

Speaking of which, Kaitlyn decides to throw herself a little “Me Party,” and she dances freely in the store aisles, not giving a damn what the other customers think, including the Handsome Shopper. Of course, that’s the one opinion that I’d consider.

Here’s when the subject material gets ominous. The last person on Kaitlyn’s daily list is a shadowy dude, and his order of nefarious merchandise is a bit questionable. But who are we, or our highly spirited hard worker, to judge what he buys? After all, they could be just for home maintenance or a DIY project that requires tools outside the norm.

The ending, though, is truly masterfully done. Why? Because Kaitlyn is still very much unaware of the creepy customer’s intentions, as she only wants a good rating for her work and to remain a top Robot Shopper. Can’t really blame her, as we all have to pay the bills somehow, and anything (legal) goes.

The 100 Eliza Taylor, Bob Morley, Status: Active

Bob Morley and Eliza have this one hope for Status: Active!

In an Instagram Reel posted on the film’s official page in September, Bob and Eliza informed the fans of the film’s YouTube premiere. They additionally revealed that they plan to expand Status: Active by making it into a feature production. But the only way to accomplish the mission is to watch the film as many times as one can and share it as many times as one can.

Not too difficult to do, right? It’s all about that fan support, and I think it’s quite possible to see where the journey goes from here!
