Devon Bostick, who plays Jasper Jordan on The 100, sat down with IGN‘s Eric Goldman, who has done immaculate interviews with Bobby Morley, Eliza Taylor, and Marie Avgeropoulos, and revealed what Jasper will go through in season 3.
Let’s get real here. Jasper has had a hard journey throughout the show since its 2014 initiation. He was supposed to perish in the Pilot from a spear wound. However, fans immediately fell in love with his character during the screening at The 100‘s 2013 SDCC panel. At first, Jasper is shown as light-hearted, carefree, and the very essence of a teenager. He bonded with Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropoulos) and had a beautiful friendship with Monty Green (Christopher Larkin), which played out over the course of the show’s seven-season run.
Season two of the Dyspoian series provided Jasper with a more heroic storyline, as well as falling in love with Maya Vie (Eve Harlow) and defeating the evils of Mt. Weather. Yet, at the end of the season, Maya’s death from radiation exposure left Jasper broken, causing him to downspiral. Understandably, grief from a loss could shatter anyone, but for Jasper, it definitely broke him. As a result, the effects will be applied in the third season and will be a heavy narrative.
Devon Bostick explains Jasper Jordan’s The 100 season 3 journey
In his interview with Goldman, Devon highlighted that Jasper will ‘bottle up’ his feelings, which will eventually strain his relationship with Monty. If you have watched season 3 before, then you know what happens to our Jasper. If you haven’t yet watched, we’re keeping the spoilers on mute. It’s going to be a dark journey ahead for him, but one with threads of hope. Before he can step onto the right path on that journey, Jasper’s mentality is going to be projected in a whole new light, but familiar with those struggling with mental illnesses and challenges.
“Everything that has happened to [Jasper] since they landed on the ground is sort of bottled up inside of him. He hasn’t been able to release it in a healthy way,” Devon tells Goldman of Jasper’s arc. He additionally mentioned that the character will shine a light on some darkness in a way the audience has never seen or experienced before.
