The 100 Season 5 Introduces New Credits Sequence

The 100

Counting down the days until the premiere (six days!) Jason Rothenberg spoiled and surprised The 100 fandom at exactly 8 PM last night with a big “thing.”  The timing was perfect as it reflected exactly ONE WEEK to the long-awaited season five, and it was quite the moment.

Rothenberg has been posting updates during the latter half of the hiatus with captures of the episodes and from the trailer on his Twitter feed.  And last night, (April 17th) I think it was the crème a’la crème as he dropped the opening credits sequence.  What a way to get us even more excited (and worried) for season five!

One week from right now, you’ll be watching the real thing. Look at the revamped main title sequence to tide you over. A small gift for your patience, passion, and loyalty. #The100 #The100Season5 #AlmostHome

The 32-second sequence (nearly 90K views in 24 hours) is nearly the same as the previous seasons, but with a few changes that are obviously a fifth season representation.   One example is the aftermath of Praimfaya and its 5-year course of death and destruction.  Another is newly added regular Tasya Teles, and she even said herself at ConAggedon this year that she didn’t think her character Echo would survive this long.  Contrary to popular belief, I really like Echo and she is one of those complexed individuals that are really interesting to watch.

One of the things that frightened me a bit was how Bob Morley’s name glitches after being shown.  This was the magic of special effects, but what does it really mean?  Perhaps I am overthinking and overreacting about Bellamy past 504, that nothing happens to him.  Or, it was just the special effects playing mind games.

The earth has certainly evolved since The 100 story began and just how will our people settle the score with the new faction?  You just have to tune in on April 24th to find out!
